At the Mars Desert Research Station outside Hanksville, Utah, a group of scientists are taking advantage of Mars-like terrain to investigate the possibility of human exploration of the red planet. Crews of scientists, students and enthusiasts live at the remote base for two weeks at a time with limited amounts of electricity, food, oxygen and water, and venture out into the desert wearing simulated spacesuits and air supply packs. Everything needed to survive must be produced, fixed and replaced on site. Here, TIME takes a look at Crew 125 EuroMarsMoon B, which just finished a two-week mission.
