What’s cooler than a waterfall? Try an icefall. The alpinists Daniel Arnold and Stephan Siegrist collaborated with the climbing photographer Thomas Senf and Swiss mountain sports manufacturer Mammut to create astounding images on the Eidfjord in northern Norway. Eidfjord, which is three hours east of the Norwegian city of Bergen, is best known for its frozen waterfalls, or ice falls, some of which can be longer than 1,640 ft (500 m). Senf captured the climbers at work on the icefalls, which were lit with colored flares and spotlights. The result is pure magic, the jagged icicles glowing purple and green from within, the climbers hung precariously from the edge of the ice, dwarfed by the wall of frozen water.
